Lauren Boyle Bio
Following retirement from competitive swimming in 2017 Lauren set up swimIQ in 2019. She has supported many aspects of sport including the Don Oliver Youth Sport Foundation and her work with Water Safety New Zealand’s “Save Our School Pools Campaign” that raised funds to refurbish school pools. Lauren was awarded an NZ Order of Merit in 2020 for services to NZ swimming.

Lauren is one of the most successful swimmers New Zealand has produced, winning World Championship medals, Commonwealth Games gold, silver and bronze medals, and breaking a world record (1500 SC Free). A specialist at middle-distance swimming, she placed fourth in 800m free at the London Olympics 2012.
Lauren remains passionate about swimming and has worked to create accessible learn-to-swim programmes that empower kids to safely build a love for swimming.
“Swimming is a life skill and I encourage Kiwis to that way of thinking. In competitive swimming, the sport has only a minor following but I want to encourage more and more kids into swimming clubs: good coaching and practice can create passion for this sport (as happened for me).”
